F-Box by David De Buyser
The F-BOX is a machine in which sound is produced by means of a computer and a fungus score. The ever-changing form and color of the fungus will not only influence the development of the sound composition, but at the same time the color of the sounds that compose it. Next to that, a manual mode will allow a musician to play on it in live performance contexts. An integrated computer touchscreen will give the player partial control over the composition.
The development of the F-BOX will take some time and will be devided in different stages: cultivation, construction, programming and performance. Each stage will bring along it's own experiments, from research into fungus growing to studies of electronic music composition. All the different task will be executed with the help of specialized partners.
